How will the assessment work?
The apprentices will be assessed through practical observation in the workplace. They will also complete knowledge checks and attend an interview based on knowledge gained throughout the course.
The Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Driver Apprenticeship is a Level 2 course designed to enhance the capabilities of a driver with a weight-restricted licence to be able to drive a vehicle over 7,500kg, including articulated or draw bar vehicles, in a safe and fuel-efficient manner.

This apprenticeship is ideal for anyone who wants to develop their skills and learn how to safely drive a weight-restricted vehicle (car, van or an urban licenced vehicle up to 7,500kg) and convert this into a career within the logistics and transport industry.
This qualification is ideal for those who are looking to get into the logistics industry and start a career as a professional LGV driver.
The aim of this course is to provide the apprentices with the skills and experience to become professional LGV drivers. They will be supported by a development coach as part of the process and provided with the training and resources they need to thrive in their new role.
This apprenticeship will take a minimum of 12 months to complete prior to taking the end-point assessment.
