Why choose this apprenticeship

 The SVQ in Controlling Lifting Operations: Supervising Lifts at SCQF Level 7 (SVQ Level 3) allows candidates to demonstrate their competence in supervising lifts taking place in the construction environment. 

This qualification enables candidates progress from their initial trained lift supervisor card (red card) through to competent lift supervisor card (blue card).

What this apprenticeship teaches you

This qualification covers areas such as:

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships.
  • Supervise lifting activities.
  • Implement, maintain and review systems for health, safety, welfare, wellbeing and environmental protection.
  • Co-ordinate work control.
  • Allocate and monitor the use of plant, equipment or machinery.
  • Maintain the dimensional accuracy of the work.
  • Co-ordinate preparation for site operations.
  • Allocate work and monitor people’s performance. 

How the assessment works

An end-point assessment consists of: review of completed logbook (portfolio of evidence), knowledge assessment (two online tests), skills assessment (five practical tasks) and an in-depth professional review.
