Employees tune in for skill-sharing sessions
Safeguarding is the obligation to keep children, young people and vulnerable members of the community safe from harm. This responsibility covers not only the modern workplace but many other settings including public and private amenities, and centres of education and leisure. GTG is no different in meeting this responsibility.
Safeguarding equips those responsible for giving care across five main pillars: establishing who may be at risk from abuse or neglect; recognising the signs of abuse and neglect; communication; increasing trust in organisations by enforcing safeguarding best practice and certifying staff to a professional level; and lastly, employers empowering staff to report abuse and neglect.
With this skill-building aim in mind, GTG welcomed Julie Gibson, a safeguarding consultant, on Friday 27th November. She guided a group of more than 25 practitioners through a series of sessions focused on GTG’s existing safeguarding policy and practice.
The sessions were a follow up to National Safeguarding Adults Week 2020 which ran from 16th – 22nd November this year, after having been postponed in late June.
