Course Summary
This course focuses on the practical aspects of driver assessment and corrective training and can prove an extremely cost-effective way of providing training throughout a company.
Subsequent in-house training ensures drivers are taught about driving safely and responsibly, with consideration of their fuel economy and other road users. The course will train candidates to carry out driving assessments and provide corrective training for HGV drivers.
At GTG, this course is conducted over five working days (with exams on the final day and is tutor-led by trainers who are experts in the transport industry and current VTCT RLI Instructors. The examinations are carried out by a qualified VTCT RLI Examiner.
The course is structured into three progressive parts:
- Part 1 – Theory: Instructional techniques, legislation, Highway Code, Eco-Safe Driving principles, testing frameworks.
- Part 2 – Practical Driving Ability: Demonstrating safe, competent driving to DVSA standards.
Part 3 – Assessment/Trainer Ability: Identifying faults, conducting fault analysis, and providing remedial training
Course Prerequisites
Candidate must hold either LGV C or CE entitlement for 3 years prior to attending the course.
