Course Summary
This training programme is designed to upskill delegates from various job roles to be able to carry out smart repairs utilizing specialized equipment including retractable spray booths
The programme will cover practical applications, repair identification, airflow and contamination control, temperature and humidity management and safe handling of coatings in a confined area with instruction on compliance with environmental and HSE regulations
By the course conclusion learners will be expected to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in the following areas.
- Surface preparation prior to paint application focussing on sanding panels, removing defects and identifying paint types
- Identify repair constraints to identify if a SMART Repair is applicable
- Base coat /lacquer application focussing on blending techniques and correct equipment application and use
- Correct procedures for setting up retractable spray booths
- Optimise lighting for defect detection
- Colour matching techniques on various paint types and substrate identification
- Competent use of polishing and cutting pads and equipment
- Correct method of paint mixing systems
- Confidently use different paint application techniques with HVLP spray gun set up and calibration
- Confident interpretation of technical and safety information from manufacturer data sheets
· Safety and Compliance, proper use of equipment and adhering to HSE guidance for retractable SMART repairs paint booths
Course Prerequisites
No prerequisites are required for this course but may have previous valeting or vehicle paint experience.
Additional Information
Delegates should bring boots and overalls on each day of the course, breathing masks, gloves and safety goggles will be provided by GTG
Course time is
Monday- Thursday 08:30-16:00 and friday 08:30-12:30
