Frequently Asked Questions
This NEBOSH course is a ten-day course; however, there is also an online closing interview upon successful completion of your assessments.
You may notice that the ‘Duration’ listed below is longer than this because the ten days may be spread out over the course of two or three weeks. However, the course will not exceed 11 working days from start to finish (including the closing interview).
To view the dates that this course will take place, you can click ‘View Dates’ for the location you’re interested in via the table booking below.
The NEBOSH course includes two assessments which you must pass to successfully achieve your certification.
- Unit NG1 includes a 24-hour open book exam (OBE) which is designed to test your knowledge as it would be used in a workplace scenario.
- Unit NG2 is a practical risk assessment. During this assessment, you will demonstrate that you have the skills to successfully complete a risk assessment in the workplace. You have ten days to complete this assessment and will be advised of the submission date when the course starts.
Once you have completed your assessments, your examiner will complete the closing interview as part of NEBOSH’s extensive process to prevent malpractice during the open book assessment. The NEBOSH closing interview is nothing to worry about and it’s there to ensure that all the work you submit is your own.
During the closing interview, your assessor will ask you a series of questions provided by NEBOSH to allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the topics covered in your exam.
To best prepare for this, we recommend re-reading the questions and answers from your exam before your interview. Remember, this is not another assessment, and it shouldn't be anything for you to worry about.
Whether you take an IOSH or NEBOSH course will differ based on your role and responsibilities.
NEBOSH courses are best suited to anyone looking to pursue or progress their career in health and safety. These courses provide a much more in-depth knowledge of health and safety principles and practices.
IOSH courses, on the other hand, are best suited to those looking to develop their knowledge and skills for day-to-day management of health and safety in the workplace.
The difficulty of NEBOSH courses will differ on a case-by-case basis, however, on average, NEBOSH courses at GTG have a high pass rate. In general, participants who actively participate and are well-prepared for the course will find the course more manageable.
Plus, our expert trainers have years of experience delivering health and safety training and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have throughout the course.
In short, no. NEBOSH certificates do not expire. However, in a dynamic environment such as health and safety, legislation, best practice and professional body requirements constantly evolve. It is recommended that you complete a NEBOSH refresher course every three years.
If you require additional support to complete your course, please inform us as soon as possible, as some awarding bodies are time-sensitive for arranging reasonable adjustments.
