Course Summary
IRTEC is a recognition of an individual’s current competence, and their commitment to an ethical code of conduct in the commercial vehicle, trailer and passenger carrying vehicle industries, this qualification an be used by individuals and employers as a recognised development path to allow technicians to further their skills and knowledge in the sub-sector in which they operate.
This IRTEC level provides recognition for individuals who are either working towards a senior position such as a supervisory role or similar role within a maintenance and repair workshop environment.
In order to achieve this IRTEC accreditation, a technician must first successfully complete a 30 question underpinning knowledge test before progressing to the practical assessments.
This is a 1 day assessment.
Course Prerequisites
The minimum entry requirement is a 5 years industrial experience OR a Level 4 S/NVQ (or equivalent qualification) plus at least one year's experience in a relevant industrial environment. This is to ensure the technician is familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to diagnose system faults, communicate effectively at all levels and be able to transfer their technical knowledge to others such as apprentices and technicians.
