Course Summary

With today’s busy road environment and more PCV DVSA roadside inspections being carried out than ever before, it is crucial that your fleet is running with no defects. You can only ensure this, though, if the maintenance staff inspect your fleet to the required standards set by DVSA. This course will equip your staff with the knowledge and skills to complete these inspections to the required standards.

This is an assessment where technicians must pass a practical assessment and two Under Pinning knowledge (theory) tests.

First the technician must pass the Under Pinning knowledge tests, which will consist of 50 questions, this will be split up of 35 questions that will be of technical content and 15 questions that will be of legislative content. Time to complete this test is 1 hour.

Once the technician has passed the Under Pinning knowledge test, they then have 12 months in which to successfully complete the Practical Assessment.

The Practical Assessment in the inspection technician licence is:

  • Inspection of vehicles
  • The Practical Assessment takes between 1.5 – 2 hours to complete.
