Course Summary

The Novice reach training course is designed to teach new entrants to safely operate lift trucks and satisfy training recommendations as per the HSE Approved Code of Practice.

The course includes:

  • Introduction to reach truck and pre-use checks.
  • Manoeuvring laden/unladen lift truck in open and confined spaces.
  • Use of industrial racking and cages.
  • Stacking exercises at high, eye and low level.
  • Principles of stability.
  • Multiple Choice associated knowledge theory test.
  • Pre-use checks test.
  • Operational ability test.

This course is reduced to 3 days practical training for candidates who have already completed the e-truck learning module.

Course Prerequisites

  • Candidates must have an email address.
  • Candidates must be of school leaving age.
  • Candidates should be suitably fit and free from disabilities that might pose a threat to their own health and safety or the health and safety of others who might be affected by them operating lift trucks.
  • Candidates will be sent a link to the RTITB e-truck learning module. This must be completed prior to attending the course.

Additional Information

To be eligible for this course you must have completed the RTITB e-truck online learning module

  • PPE requirements: Safety footwear is advised and full length trousers.
  • Please bring proof of photographic I.D
  • Please note that mobile phones must be switched off during training.
