Following the success of the recent Level 3 Heavy Electric/Hybrid course, GTG has confirmed the addition of two new heavy vehicle courses which will soon be available to HV technicians up and down the country.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, we’re offering technicians the chance to enhance their skills and improve their knowledge so they can keep up to date with modern developments.
Interested? Here’s what you can expect to learn from each course.
Emission Control Systems
This one-day course will provide candidates with an overview of the emission control systems in a heavy vehicle (HGVs and PGVs). They will learn how various systems operate, how to deal with common faults and how to test systems and their components by following a logistical diagnostic process.
With a mix of classroom and practical learning involved, this course will benefit heavy vehicle technicians who want to develop their knowledge on this subject and those who are having frequent reoccurring faults in their vehicle systems.
Heavy Vehicle Air Conditioning
This one-day course is the heavy vehicle variant of our already available Air Conditioning course. It is mainly aimed at those working on heavy vehicles and will inform candidates on how to handle and service air conditioning systems correctly.
The course consists of an online assessment and then a practical assessment, with candidates working to achieve a Level 3 award in Cargo Refrigerant Handling.
IMI Level 3 Award in Heavy Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement
This two-day certified course is designed to help candidates learn how to safely carry out repairs on electric/hybrid voltage systems. During this course, learners will work on simulated high voltage situations, live voltage testing, various high voltage components and their sub-systems. Complimenting their current industry qualifications and experience, this will enable them to continue to work safely within their role.
Candidates should be working in the heavy vehicle and bus and coach sector of the industry and ideally have a least two years’ experience, as well as the appropriate vehicle maintenance and repair knowledge and skills at level 3.
As electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular, this course will provide learners with significant core knowledge and the skills to remove and replace Heavy Electric/Hybrid vehicle high voltage components.
This award is also a gateway course to various other manufacturer heavy electric vehicle training programmes.
