GTG recently partnered with Arnold Clark’s award-winning Digital team to design a bespoke Leading and Managing People programme for those in the digital sector.
Arnold Clark Digital had already developed ACDC (Arnold Clark Digital Careers), a career development framework aligned to SFIA and supported through SkillsTX, designed to bring greater clarity and structure to digital employees’ skills, development and career progression. The next step was to strengthen the leadership and people-management capability of digital leaders and ensure ACDC could be used confidently and consistently in everyday development conversations.
That's where GTG came in. Working closely with Davie Gow, Chief Technology Officer at Arnold Clark, we didn't want to simply deliver a standard leadership course. Instead, we built a bespoke two-day Leading and Managing People programme shaped around the Digital team's own culture, language and ways of working.
The course explores real leadership challenges, including managing hybrid teams, communication, motivation, feedback, delegation, performance, difficult conversations and leading change. ACDC, SFIA and SkillsTX are incorporated throughout, helping managers connect leadership conversations with employees’ ongoing development. By using real examples and scenarios that were provided by the teams, we were able to facilitate open discussion between delegates and allow them to share their experiences, challenges, and solutions. As a final touch, GTG also produced slides and a manual in the Arnold Clark Digital branding to create a more bespoke experience and keep it closely aligned to the Arnold Clark values.
The result has been a programme that feels genuinely embedded in how Arnold Clark Digital operates. Since 2025, it's been delivered to more than 80 digital leaders across the business and has become a core part of the team's wider approach to leadership and career development.
Davie sums up the impact simply: ‘ACDC gave us the framework. GTG helped us turn it into leadership conversations.’
Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with consistency being one of the strongest themes to emerge from testimonials. By giving managers a common structure and shared language to work with, the programme has helped to create fairness and transparency around how development and progression conversations happen across the team – no matter who's having them.
For GTG, projects like this reflect what we do best: supporting real career development and giving people the skills they need to succeed.
